To learn more about JSA Studio – including more on their team,

their design philosophy, and their past and present projects –

Other recent examples of JSA

Studio’s design excellence include

a mixed-use development on

13-17 Woodville Street, located

within the dense urban suburb of

Hurstville. That building includes

74 apartments and five shops,

providing the area with much-

needed large apartments while

still retaining a strong commercial

street presence.

There’s also the work completed

on behalf of one of the firm’s long-

term client, the Knox Grammar

School. There, JSA Studio has

recently completed both a Great

Hall and a Swim Centre.

The school’s great hall includes a

grand entry foyer with ceremonial

stairs, and has the capacity to seat

up to 2500 people on the main

floor and mezzanine. The aquatic

centre, meanwhile, contains a

50-metre competition pool, a

separate learn-to-swim pool with

independent entry and facilities, a

large gym and weights room, and

seating for over 300 spectators.

Kim is particularly proud of

the interiors of those projects,

which he says are some of the

most stunning in the company’s

Moving forward, Kim hopes to

continue working with Knox

Grammar School and other

longstanding clients – as well as

with new clients, the kind who

equally value quality design

and personal service. Kim is

particularly interested in taking

on larger and more complex

projects, but not in growing in

terms of size or staff.

“We want to be a medium-sized

practice that does large projects,”

he says. “And we want to do a

lot of different types. A number

of firms just do residential and

mixed-use, and that’s pretty

much it – we don’t work that way.

We do a lot of different things.

That’s how we like it.”
